Man Utd legends had Zoom calls with first-team star but he couldn't understand them

Alejandro Garnacho has continued his rise in becoming a key player for Manchester United this season.

The 19-year-old sensation has been one of the best players for the Premier League giants this campaign where he's been an ever-present figure in Erik ten Hag's side.

The Argentina international has scored seven goals in all competitions and has contributed three assists as he's made the right-wing spot his own, in place of the £86million flop Antony, who is yet to score or assist in the Premier League this season.

Still just a teenager, Garnacho has thus far grown tremendously since joining Man United in 2020, having spent five years with Atletico Madrid as a youth player.

Arriving at Old Trafford as a 15-year-old is a daunting task and the club had built measures for young players to settle at the club by allowing them to build relationships first with coaches, medics, athletic development coaches, psychologists and analysts, according to The Athletic.

In their attempt to help the youngsters, United had set up Zoom calls with several club legends and coaches including the likes of Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher and Wes Brown. Unfortunately for Garnacho, the then-15-year-old failed to understand any of them.

He instead found kinship through Marc Jurado and Alvaro Fernandez, two Spanish youngsters who joined at the same time, from Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively. The pair offered great support to the younger Garnacho as they learned how to navigate a new language and new country together.

Garnacho - who grew up in Madrid - had his family move from the Spanish capital to be with him in Manchester and were regular attendees at Old Trafford. His debut season at the club under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw him earn two appearances before improving that tally to 34 games last season as he played alongside his idol in Cristiano Ronaldo.

The winger has already beaten that amount with 37 games this season while only three United players have scored more than him during the campaign.
